So let's start with the ANISEED EASTER BREAD.
This delight can only be found on the occasion of this holiday; it is a bread with a crunchy crust and a soft inside, stuffed with cooked ham, flavoured speck, hard-boiled eggs, and, as a final touch, with horseradish, which gives it its particular taste.
The procedure to prepare it is not particularly difficult, we leave you to follow the recipe, to try to bring a small piece of South Tyrol even on these days.
Ingredients :
- 400 g of flour
- 200 ml of milk
- 40 g of butter
- 60 g of sugar
- 1 cube of yeast
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 2 tablespoons of anise
Preparation :
Mix all the ingredients until a smooth and homogeneous mixture is obtained.
Let stand for 20 minutes approx.
Give the dough the shape of a round loaf and let it rest for another 10 minutes.
After this phase, gently press the bread to make it flatter and let it rest for another 40-50 minutes.
Now you can give free rein to your imagination and draw your favourite shapes on the dough: a star, a heart, an Easter bunny...
Finally, brush the surface of the loaf with water and bake in the preheated oven.
* Ventilated oven: 180 degrees 25 minutes
...... we continue our journey .....
After the Lenten fast, Easter lunch becomes very important.
On this day, tradition has it that it leads to blessing a basket containing coloured eggs, speck, the braid of sweet bread and the radish root.
Easter eggs also have a particular function at the moment of courtship: tradition has it that on March 19, St. Joseph's day, young people go to the girls' homes to "book" the eggs, which will then be collected on the day Easter Monday.
Two courtesy eggs are given to anyone who asks, 4 eggs are an explicit sign of denial, 6 eggs are given to the chosen lover instead. Finally, the year of the wedding, 12 eggs are given in a well-decorated glass box to your boyfriend.
Finally, we want to talk to you about the game of PECHE ' (or Cufé).
During Easter, male children play with coloured "cufé" eggs.
Each participant hits the opponent's egg with the tip of their egg. Whoever remains with the egg intact wins and also gains that of the opponent.
The object of the game is to win as many eggs as possible. The game is also known with the Ladin term "Segra dai Üs", or egg festival.
We hope that this brief taste of traditions has given you at least a small smile, waiting to share the beauties of our territory again.
HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU
